How it looks in use
Thornwell
A crisp serif with sharp triangular serifs and a slight lean in its stress, cut clean for reading.
Thornwell
About the family
Thornwell is a serif whose serifs are small sharp wedges, thin at the tip and growing into the stem with no curved bracket. The stress leans slightly, the contrast is modest, and the lowercase has a moderate x-height with a double-storey a, a round g and a pointed y. The capitals are classical and even, and the figures sit comfortably in text. Light, Regular, SemiBold, Bold and Black give a full range from fine captions to a heavy headline. It reads well at length and still has enough edge to feel distinctive, which makes it a good book face or newspaper headline.
