About the family
Tanbarkgate takes carnival lettering and calms it down. The width is normal, the stroke is fairly even, and the decoration lives in the serifs, which curl and fork, and in the small spurs on the stems. The letters wobble a little, so it feels drawn by hand rather than cut by machine. Five weights. It reads well enough for a title and a short line underneath, and it looks at home on a storybook cover as much as a fair. Longer passages become a lot of spurs to read through.
