How it looks in use
Stoutelgate
A geometric slab serif built on circles and straight stems, with square slabs and an easy rhythm.
Stoutelgate
About the family
Stoutelgate is a slab serif drawn with a compass and a ruler. The round letters lean toward true circles, stems are straight, and each stroke ends in a square slab cut cleanly across. The a is single-storey, the counters stay open, and the rhythm is steady from letter to letter, which makes lines of it easy to read. The horizontals are a touch lighter than the verticals, so it keeps some life. Light is airy and technical, Regular is a good all-rounder, and Medium has enough weight for signs. It feels practical and a little friendly, like a well-kept workshop.
