How it looks in use
Platrelbroad
A wide, solid slab with flat unbracketed feet, built for signs that have to be read from the road.
Platrelbroad
About the family
Platrelbroad takes the slab serif and pulls it wide. Each letter sits in a broad space with heavy, flat slab feet cut clean and square, and the round letters come out as fat ovals with just a hint of a squared corner. Stems are sturdy, the arms and bowls a little lighter, so there is some life in the stroke without anything turning thin. The Light weight is already solid and Medium is properly chunky. Set a short word in it and it sits on the page like a steel sign bolted to a wall. It has the feel of an old truck stop in the best possible way.
