About the family
Pavergate is a wide Roman serif rebuilt in tiny square tiles. The stems are thick, several tiles across, while the horizontals shrink to a single course, which gives it real thick and thin contrast even though it is made of identical squares. Serifs are blunt stepped blocks, bowls curve in coarse staircases, and the grout lines stay visible everywhere. Letters are broad and generous, so a short word fills a lot of space. There is one weight, Regular. It feels like a floor someone was proud of, the kind you step around rather than on.
