About the family
Girderfell is a slab serif that plants its feet. Every stem ends in a heavy rectangular slab as thick as the stem itself, sticking out on both sides, and the bowls of b, d, p and q are squared off rather than round. The a is single storey, the g single storey with a short straight tail, and the y drops straight down. The x-height is large and the counters small, so even the Light weight looks solid and the SemiBold looks stamped on. Numbers are square shouldered and easy to read at a distance. It is a close relative of the Stoutel slabs, only squarer and more athletic, the one you reach for when the job needs a letterman jacket.
