A sturdy news serif with even strokes, short slab-like serifs and a big x-height, easy to read for pages on end.

About the family
Stetpress is a working news serif. The strokes are nearly even, the serifs are short and sturdy, the x-height is big and the openings of letters like c and e are kept fairly closed, all of which keeps it clear at small sizes on cheap paper. The a is double storey, the g has a proper loop underneath, and round letters are just a touch squarish. It will not draw attention to itself in a paragraph, which is exactly the point. Five weights run from Light to Bold, enough for body text, captions and a headline in the same family.
