How it looks in use
Slatebyslim
Tall, narrow chalk letters with dusty edges and an even line. The menu board, not the lecture.

About the family
Slatebyslim looks like someone wrote it on a board with a fresh stick of chalk and a steady hand. The letters are tall and narrow, the stroke stays close to one weight, and the edges are grainy and chipped where the chalk skipped. Nothing is perfectly straight, which is the point. Five weights, from a light scratch to a heavy pressed line. It fits a lot of words into a narrow space, so specials, prices and short lists behave well. Long paragraphs will feel like homework. Keep it for headings and short lines.
