A compact, low contrast oldstyle serif with sturdy bracketed serifs and small tight counters.

About the family
Proempress has old bones under a practical skin. The stress still leans a little, the serifs are bracketed and solid, but the strokes are almost even, so it prints dark and holds up on rough paper. The letters are somewhat narrow with small tight counters and a modest x-height, and every one stands clearly apart from its neighbour. Light, Regular and Medium are included. Light is neat and bookish, Medium is dark enough for a heading. It is the serif for a local printer's letterhead, a parish newsletter or the back of a seed packet.
